Introduction
A Job is a workspace where users can view, edit and transform data. A Job is a project created by users to gather data from one or more data sources, then clean, transform and adjust the data to meet their requirements. Jobs transform data using various tools (called nodes) and can format data into several reporting styles.
Creating Jobs
To create a new job, select the purple plus sign on the Workspace tab toolbar. The new job will open in a separate tab titled New Job.
A brand new job will be like a blank slate. Job are built using a combination of data tables(input nodes) and nodes. To learn about creating a connection to data tables, see this article.
Placing Nodes into a Job
There are many ways to add a node to the job workspace:
- Drag and drop a node from the node panel into the workspace area (can be placed anywhere)
- Double-click on the desired node from the node panel (will be placed in the upper left corner)
- Use the Node option from the main menu and choose the node you would like to bring into the job (will be placed in the upper left corner)
Nodes may be repositioned by dragging and dropping them. Each job should contain at least one input node, (optionally) a combination of compile, process, and special nodes, and at least one output node. Once the nodes are in the workspace, they will need to be connected to create a process path, configured in order to perform the desired tasks, and run in order to execute the process.
Once a job has been created, it can be saved so that it can be referred back to and edited later. Saved jobs are placed in the Workspace tab job list.
