Introduction
When a dataset is opened, a list of all the dataset variables populates on the left side of the interface. By default, the output is a single cell displaying a record count of the entire dataset. By dragging and dropping variables from the variable list on the left to either the side or top axis (Y or X axis), the table will disaggregate according to the selected variables and populate the respective counts. Additional customizable viewing options are available to adjust the output further.
Drilling Down into a Table
All tables in Bridge have the ability to be drilled downed into. This includes tables in the dashboard and dataset views. Drill down views can be exported as .csv files. Dashboards shared with you by another user may not have the ability to drill down to the underlying data unless the user also shares the dataset the dashboard is built off with you.
Filtering Variables in a Dataset
When playing with a dataset or building an interactive dashboard, values within variables can be filtered to only display the desired values. By selecting the filter funnel icon in the variable name, an option will appear to select or unselect desired variables. When a filter is in place, the variable name color will change from blue to green.
Variable Aggregation Options
When variables are selected for the dashboard table, the default view is a record count. However, additional aggregate options are available to adjust the output cell values according to the desired data.
Upon selecting a type of aggregation or summary, available variables will appear in the dropdown menu. The resulting table with be an aggregated layout of key variables.
For categorical variables, Construct sets a cut off point of 500 unique values per variable for the variable to be allowed for aggregation or as a row/column variable. Variables with over 500 unique records (Customer ID, or Customer phone numbers for example) are still in the dataset, but are not displayed by default in the variable list. This default setting can be adjusted on a variable by variable basis in the Configure a Dataset tool.
Element Options
Chart, Table, And Heatmap Dropdown Menu
The Element options dropdown (defaulted to a Table display) allows different charts and tables to be configured with the variables selected for an interactive dashboard. All charts have a hovering feature, allowing you to see associated values interactively. In addition, tables (including heatmaps) can be drilled down to allow for a granular view of all variables in the dataset. Charts, tables, and heatmaps can be saved as individual elements for a dashboard.
Export Entire Table to Excel
Interactive dashboard tables can be downloaded as .csv tables and exported to Excel before they become actual elements in your dashboard.
