Introduction
The Workspace tab automatically opens when the Construct program first starts. It serves as the place where users organize and manage data projects, data source connections, and view what jobs might currently be running. The top section of the Workspace tab is dedicated to Construct jobs and job information. The bottom section is dedicated to Construct data connections.
Toolbar
The main toolbar at the top of the window provides options unique to the Workspace tab. Note that there is only one Workspace tab. If closed, it can be reopened from the main toolbar by selecting Window > Workspace.
Toolbar Options
- New Job: Opens a new job in a separate tab to start working from scratch.
- Open Job: Opens the job that is selected in the job list below. You can also open jobs by double-clicking on them from the same section.
- Import Job: Opens your machine's file browser to select a job file. This is usually done when a job has been sent to you by another user.
- Find Job: Opens a search window to allow you to find a job from your job list below.
- Edit Job Schedule: Opens the job scheduling window which allows you to create a new schedule or edit an existing schedule for the selected job.
How Jobs are Organized
By default, jobs are organized alphabetically within the job list. Jobs can also be organized using folders to create an intuitive file structure. In the Workspace tab, folders are created by right-clicking anywhere in the Jobs section and selecting New Folder. Jobs can be individually dragged and dropped between folders and folders can be nested within one another.
Jobs can also be copied to other folders by selecting a job, then right-clicking and selecting Copy. Then select the desired folder and right-click and select Paste. The job will then exist in both the original location, and the copied location.
Jobs can always be renamed to be representative of the job function. To rename a job, right-click on the title of the job in the Workspace tab and select Rename. Then simply type the new desired name and press the Enter key.
Job Details Section
The Job Details section is located in the upper right corner when a job is selected from the job list. The Job Details section reports the properties of the selected job. Details include:
-
Job Name
-

-

Active Processes Section
The Active Processes section of the Workspace tab displays the names and elapsed times of jobs currently running in Construct. If no jobs are running, this portion of the Workspace remains blank. Active Processes are accessible from the Workspace tab below the connections, or from the main toolbar under Tools > Active Processes.
