Construct Enterprise |
Construct Enterprise is an Enterprise installation of Construct that runs off a central server and runs as a service. |
Construct Enterprise Client |
A Construct Enterprise Client is the part of the enterprise installation that gets installed directly on users’ computers just like Construct Workstation. The clients interact with the Enterprise Server which runs as a service instead of as an application. |
Construct Enterprise Server |
The Construct Enterprise Server is the component that runs as a service rather than an application. This means that, unless intentionally stopped, the Construct Enterprise Server is invisibly running whenever its host computer is. |
Construct Pro |
Construct Pro is a version of Construct with the additional feature of Scheduling available as this version runs as a service rather than an application. |
Data Source |
The original location in which data lives that Construct points to in order for that data to enter the software through a Connection. |
Date |
A data type consisting of a calendar date. |
Datetime |
A data type consisting of an instant in time expressed by a calendar date and time of day. |
Delimited |
A file schema type in which the separation between each column is denoted by a specific character or “delimiter” marking the end of one column and the beginning of the next. |
Destination Node |
When two nodes are connected, the destination node is the node that the data is flowing IN to and at the receiving end of the connection arrow. |
Disable |
Nodes that are disabled will not execute during a job run. |
Docking / Undocking |
Undocking allows you to separate job tabs from the main Construct window and float as a separate window. Docking allows you to merge the windows back to the original state. |
File Properties |
The file properties window allows users to define a file schema, column titles, and data types before the file is used. |
File Schema |
A schema describes the structure of the data file and determines how the data is translated into a table. |
Fixed Width |
A type of file schema in which each column contains a specified number of characters which determines the maximum amount of data it can contain. |
Floating Notes |
A sticky-note like text box that is anchored visibly within the job workspace. |
Get Values |
A tool found within Construct nodes used to mine a specific column and return a list of all the unique values contained in that column. |
Grid |
A framework of dots that can be displayed over the job workspace to be used as an organizational aid for workflow structure. |
Input |
A category of nodes (all green nodes) typically used at the beginning of a workflow that add data into the job workspace from a data source. |
Integer |
A data type consisting of whole numbers with no decimal or fractions. |
Job |
A job is the file in which you can work with your data to create a data process. |
Job Details |
The job details section is displayed on the workspace tab when a job is selected. This section shows the job name, job id, created date, last modified, last used, what connections are used in the job, and any job notes. |
Job Notes |
Notes specific to the entire job. These can be edited using the “Edit Notes” button in the job workspace toolbar. Job notes are displayed in the job details. |
Job Properties |
A job’s name, ID, and folder path for where it is saved in the workspace tab. |
Job Run Order |
The job run order determines the order of operations in which specific nodes in a workflow execute when an entire job is run. This can be edited using the “Set Run Order” button in the job workspace toolbar. |
Job Workspace |
The white space in the job tab where workflows can be built. |
Job Workspace Toolbar |
The toolbar that displays just above the job workspace in the job tab starting with “Validate Job”. |
License |
A license is a unique serial number distributed to each user to activate access to the software. A license is associated with a user and the computer the user installs the license on. |
License Lock |
Locking a license ties it to the computer machine identity so that the license cannot be used on another machine concurrently. |
License Unlock |
Unlocking a license allows users to transfer their license to a new machine or user. |
Log Files |
The log files keep track of compilation error details that can be shared with Rapid Insight support staff for troubleshooting. |
Main Toolbar |
The main toolbar is the toolbar at the very top of the interface starting with “File”. |
Node |
A visual representation of a data task. |
Node Notes |
Notes attached to a specific node within a job. These can be accessed by right-clicking on the node and selecting “Edit Notes”. A node with a note attached to it will display a yellow sticky note icon above it in the job workspace. |
Node Right-Click Menu |
The list of options the appears when you right-click on a node, such as “Run this node only”. |
Node Window Toolbar |
The toolbar that appears within a node configuration window. |
Optimization |
The process or action of making a job run as efficiently as possible in the way the data is sorted and queried. |
Output |
A category of nodes (all red nodes) typically used at the end of a workflow that allows users to write data externally or view the data results in Construct. |
Parameter |
A named variable assigned a data type and value by the user that can be used as a dynamic value placeholder within nodes where a value may need to be changed frequently. |
Process |
A category of node functions (all purple nodes) that involve tasks such as joining data sources, restructuring data, performing calculations, or creating additional columns. |
Process Path |
A series of connected nodes that accomplish a data task. Synonymous with Workflow. |
