Deep Dive: Predicting Student GPA

To achieve a deeper look into student success, many Rapid Insight users employ first semester GPA modeling. This practice predicts a student’s GPA instead of a binary outcome like persistence. GPA modeling creates opportunities for a more nuanced understanding of a student’s likelihood of success and enables early intervention.

In this session, attendees will receive step-by-step guidance in Rapid Insight Predict on how to build a predictive model for GPAs which can apply to students at any point in their academic careers whether it is their first or fourth year. We will also discuss interventions and unexpected discoveries that may surface while using these models.
